Who Loves a Clean San Diego?

Mar 28, 2022 | Blog

We do!

? Earth Day is just weeks away…

And we have some exciting news to share.

In partnership with I Love a Clean San Diego, Orbital Project Management is sponsoring a team of volunteers for their 20th anniversary Creek to Bay Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 23rd.

What they’ve accomplished

In the past 20 years, Creek to Bay volunteers (all 83 THOUSAND of them) removed 2.7 million pounds of litter before it reached the ocean. Last year alone, they nabbed nearly 30,000 pounds of debris and were able to recycle over 10% of it!  ? ♻️

(Remember how we feel about recycling and the 7th material source?  Check out our Global Recycling Day post.)

They cite an estimate that by 2050 there may be more pounds of plastic than fish in the ocean. Say what?!

What have we done to our planet?

It’s not too late to turn things around. In addition to a commitment to recycling and reducing our reliance on single-use plastics, we can participate by getting discarded items out of our natural spaces where they may leach toxins into our soils and groundwater.

Sign me up!

If you want to lend a hand (or two) to this community clean up opportunity, sign up for our volunteer email list below.  We will be sharing all the details about our assigned location and event day plans directly with our OPM volunteers.

Know any students looking for volunteer hours? Children of all ages are welcome with their parents or adult chaperones.

Today’s youth are tomorrow’s environment stewards, and we know that early introduction to volunteering is vital to their future mindset about their roles and responsibilities as community members.

Our team would love to meet all of you who share our passion for the environment and our local communities.

Let’s celebrate and make a difference together for Earth Day 2022!

❤️?♻️
